There may also be opportunities to case-hold investigations within Local Policing, subject to meeting the required criteria and demonstrating relevant investigative experience.
Key Responsibilities
As a Police Staff Investigator, you will be responsible for:
  • Collecting and gathering material, intelligence and evidence from a wide range of sources.
  • Conducting analysis, assessing evidence and evaluating investigative material.
  • Supporting Officers in Case with the progression of investigations and completion of investigative actions.

  • Undertaking associated search and custody procedures in accordance with legislation, policy and safeguarding requirements.
  • Completing risk assessments and identifying appropriate support for victims throughout an investigation.
  • Developing and implementing victim plans where required to support the safety and wellbeing of victims.
  • Liaising with investigators, managers and other relevant colleagues to identify effective methods of gathering material.
  • Supporting the development of material into intelligence or evidence.
  • Completing accurate and timely investigative records and documentation.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure investigations progress effectively and within required timescales.

Case-holding responsibilities will be subject to the required criteria being met and will involve taking greater ownership of investigative activity, including planning and progressing lines of enquiry and managing investigations appropriately.
